我認識的義生是擁有以下三種特質的領袖：

推陳出新：面對困難，他是一個有勇氣改變現況、願意冒險嘗試新事物的領袖；義無反顧地信任：面對挑戰，他常常表達對團隊的信任和鼓勵，使我們有力繼續向目標前進；生命滿有感染力：面對生命，他願意敞開自己，與同工和學生分享生命的經歷和軟弱。

I had the privilege of working with Patrick when he was an MDiv student and then shortly during his time in the PhD program at Fuller Theological Seminary. I first met Patrick in 2011 as he joined the inaugural Emerging Leader Initiative (ELI) for younger leaders with both gifting and aspirations for increased leadership responsibilities. Patrick was unknown by almost all of the team members at the beginning, but he quickly built trusting relationships with all. He also led the task force researching the discipleship of college believers who continue as lifetime laborers beyond graduation, and this research contributed greatly to focused growth in this area.

I appreciate Patrick's courageous faith to follow our Lord's will, his keen intellect and discipline in studying Scripture, his desire to love and serve others, and his humility to listen well. I look forward to seeing how the Lord blesses Hong Kong through his leadership.

義生太太

在過去10年的婚姻生活，我有幸與義生一起經歷大大小小的旅程，其中包括到美國讀書的七年之旅，以及生育小孩的過程。

初到美國讀神學，對從前修讀理科的他來說，要用英文理解深奧的學術文章以及撰寫幾千字的論文，實在吃力。當時他每天到圖書館下苦功，中午便到「Prayer Garden」禱告，也會到處請教身邊的人。直到今天他能夠修讀PhD，反映的無疑是他這七年來努力、信心和謙卑的態度。期間我曾跟義生合作當「Fuller community coordinator」，不時看到他盡責和愛鄰舍的一面。記得有一次一位鄰居深夜敲門，投訴同房鼻鼾太大聲，義生耐心地聽他申訴，並提供不同方案跟他一起解決問題。

在預備懷孕的煎熬歲月中，我很感激他默默的陪伴和聆聽，又一直持守對神的信心，主動與弟兄姊妹分享並尋求支持禱告，讓我知道我們並不孤單。後來初為人母也是另一種挑戰，早產的雙生兒每晚輪流哭喊，以致我們都嚴重缺乏睡眠。當時義生很願意承擔，和我一起研究不同的「哄睡策略」，苦中作樂。及後面對育兒上的困難，義生也願意尋求專業幫助，改善自己的脾氣和教養方法，努力做三位孩子的好爸爸。

在義生身上，我看到的是一位有血有肉的僕人領袖，努力倚靠神面對挑戰！願我們的生命能反映基督的榮美，努力報答向我們施恩的主！

It has been our privilege to support Patrick Chan for his PhD studies. Patrick has proved to be a dedicated student and a promising bright scholar making significant contributions to the understanding of shame in the New Testament. One of the good signs of being a Christian is to feel and express gratitude to God and His people. Patrick has always shown this virtue in his life and ministry. 同伴

我在小學時認識義生，他是一位做事認真的同學，到了中學，他對信仰越發追求，更不時藉經文鼓勵身邊的人。最記得一次他引用主耶穌的教導：「我實實在在的告訴你們，一粒麥子不落在地裏死了，仍舊是一粒，若是死了，就結出許多子粒來。」（約十二24）後來進入大學，義生衝破麥子的外殼，實踐了以生命事奉，成為一粒有生命的麥子，結出果子，帶給別人祝福，將主的福音宣揚，使人得到生命之糧。

今天，義生繼續將身體獻上，當作活祭，成為神所喜悅的器皿。願神使用義生，繼續裝備聖徒，一同建立基督的身體。

昔日門訓導師

我認識義生的時候，他正在香港大學讀書，是一位很愛主及對人很有熱誠的弟兄。當時事工雖然面對很大挑戰，但感恩神帶領了義生及一眾學園的弟兄姊妹，克服了一個又一個的挑戰，同心在校園敬拜，堅持傳福音、培育生命及造就門徒，讓校園繼續成為轉化生命的地方！

香港神學院榮休教授

認識義生，是在2018年12月美國富勒神學院我的一次公開演講。演講後他不斷向我請教中國文化榮辱觀的學術研究概況，是一位非常好學的神學博士生。及後，他回到香港，我搬到洛杉磯，輪到我不斷向他請教洛杉磯華人教會的情況，他也慷慨地為我指點。我最近於富勒神學院入職，我們彼此之間的共通話題又增加不少。每一次與義生談話都非常愉快，沒有廢話，開新視野。能夠認識義生這位新一代香港教會機構帶領者，是我的福氣。
